I love “Miss Nelson is Missing”. I’ve loved it since I was in school! So, when our box of books I ordered from the library arrived, I was really excited to find it buried in with all the other treasures. I knew I wanted to use it, but didn’t know quite how to turn it into a writing lesson. An evening spent searching the internet inspired some ideas.
I created this very basic letter template:
We read the book and talked about how we could convince Miss Nelson to come back to school. The kids brainstormed lots of good ‘describing’ words for their feelings. We talked about some basics of letter writing and off they went.
