Halloween Week

The month has flown by and I’m sure next week will too!

Today students had their school pictures taken.  The order form went home today in their ziplock bags.  Please return order form ASAP.

On Tuesday Oct.29th David Goss will visit GrandBay Primary.  He is a local author who will share stories with the class.

Thursday Oct. 31st will be our Halloween Party.

Everyone is invited to wear orange and black.  If you would like to send in treats for the class we have 18 students and 1 EA.  Our party will be after lunch.

I hope everyone enjoys the last weekend of October! 🙂

Spelling Words – Week 7, 8, and 9

Some important Notes:

Week 7, 8, and 9 Spelling words came home today. We understand that it is a short week to learn new words, and have explained to students that while we will still have a spelling test, we will remember that they only had 2 nights to study! Please keep these spelling words somewhere safe for the next 3 weeks. This is week 7 and we will use them for two more weeks.

Try out Spelling City:
We like to practice our words with Hang Mouse 🙂

Autumn Art

Another great day in grade 2.
Today we read “The Magnificent Tree” by Nick Bland and Stephen Michael King.

We talked about how differences can be wonderful. And we talked about autumn trees. Here are some pictures of their beautiful art.

Math Lines for Making Ten

We are having a great week. All the students are starting to become very independent in their routines. They are really looking like a group of grade 2 students this week!

In Math, one of the Outcomes we are working on is ‘Making Ten’. This is a mental math strategy that focuses on speed and accuracy with math facts that equal 10. In class we have been playing a game called Math Lines and I have challenged the students to show you their skills!
