February News

January was a very successful month and everyone is settled back into our routines and working hard.  We have a lot of fun activities in the month of February.

Feb. 3- Monday – Mrs. Smith will start working Monday and Tuesdays while Ms. Rickett Nadeau will be Thursday and Fridays.  We will continue to alternate Wednesdays.

Feb. 13 – Thursday – 100 Day.  GrandBay Primary will be celebrating the 100 days we have been in school this year.  Students will take part in a multiage whole school activity.  It is always a day  the students look forward to and is a lot of fun.

Feb. 14- Friday Morning – Field Trip – Thanks to the GrandBay Primary PALS sponsor we will be going to Rockwood Park for a field trip! Students will be making a bird feeder, playing games and climbing the indoor rock wall.  This event is rain or shine.  Each student will be bringing their bookbag to hold their sneakers and recess snack.  Please pack a drink and easy snack for your child that day.  We will be back at the school by lunch time.  Permission slips will be sent home tomorrow with your child’s homework.

Feb. 14 – Friday Afternoon – Valentine’s Day Party.  After our field trip in the morning students will have the afternoon to have a little Valentine’s Day party.  A class list will be sent home with names for Valentines.  If parents would like to send in a treat for the party please remember we have a peanut allergy in the classroom.

Feb. 17 – Monday – NO SCHOOL. Teachers have professional development meetings all day.

Tomorrow the Spelling Test notebooks will be sent home for parents to see how your child has been doing.  Please initial your child’s tests and return ASAP. We will have our Week 21 spelling test this Friday so it is important all test books are returned.  Thank you.

Note: These marks are not reflected on the report card however, these words make up a huge portion of the books they read and use in their writing. Therefore, we cannot stress the importance these words play in your child’s reading and writing success.
