Reading At Home (Notes on Homework)

Reading at home is one of the best ways to support your child’s learning at school.  There are many ways your child can read at home.  Student’s can ‘read to self’, or ‘read with a buddy (parent, grandparent, older sibling, or even the dog!)’, or ‘listen to reading’ (while it may seem a bit like cheating, listening to someone else read has a lot of value – and kids love it!).

After grades K-2, our focus moves away from ‘learning to read’ and toward ‘reading to learn’.  This means comprehension is a big part of what we are doing.  Here is a quick video with some tips of reading for comprehension at home:
